Alkalinity Reducer 

It is also known as a pH reducer or pH decreaser, is a substance used to lower the alkalinity of water or a solution. Alkalinity refers to the capacity of water to resist changes in pH, primarily due to the presence of bicarbonate, carbonate, and hydroxide ions. In various applications such as water treatment, pool maintenance, and hydroponics, it is sometimes necessary to reduce alkalinity to achieve optimal pH levels.

This can be done by adding an alkalinity reducer, which typically contains an acidic compound. Common alkalinity reducers include substances like sulfuric acid, muriatic acid (hydrochloric acid), citric acid, or phosphoric acid. These acidic compounds react with the bicarbonate and carbonate ions in the water, converting them into carbon dioxide and water, thereby reducing the alkalinity.
